Why Is My Boiler Making a Kettling Noise?

What We Found
When we attended the property, we inspected the boiler and heating system to determine what was restricting the flow.
In this case, there was a build-up affecting the heat exchanger and reducing the movement of water through the boiler.
Over time, central heating systems can accumulate magnetite, which is a dark sludge formed as metal components within the system corrode.
If enough debris builds up, it can affect circulation and contribute to problems such as unusual boiler noises or uneven heating.
Repairing the Boiler
Once the cause had been identified, the heat exchanger was cleaned to remove the build-up and restore better water flow through the boiler.
After completing the repair, the system could be checked to make sure it was operating correctly.
The important part of this job was identifying the cause of the noise rather than simply treating the symptom.
